| About the Artist |
Andréa Elizabeth DeFelice [American born - 1979] works primarily in video installation, object-making, drawing, and constructing environments.
As an artist, my practice is wide-ranging and interdisciplinary. My process is about experimenting with various media in order to create works that intendedly act as a bridge to both physical and psychological associations to art, science and popular culture. I am also sought to challenge the boundaries between such aspects of everyday life, and the overall human experience.
My work is inspired directly from personal experiences. I am fascinated with human behavior in the relations to sudden change and conditioning, the physical senses, societal taboos, communication, science, and devices. Among my most important concerns in my artistic process is to inspire perceptiveness and bring about controversy over why and how surrounding influences affect our behavior and experiences in everyday life—primarily the experiences related to our bodies and our personal (mis)conceptions.
I currently live and work in New York.
