Rafael Holguin

About the Artist

Well, I am still alive, this means I enjoy, I suffer, I love, I see the world around and within, yes within, inside towards the center should be the most important as all around is finally much ado about nothing.

Histoire de crayons

2004
Acrylics on canvas and glued material
214x123cm

This series of two canvas is on the same lines as the work called le Manchot but is a piece which has glued material such as old pencils or brushes. This gaves relief.

Paravent

2001
wood and acrylics
168X41 cm

This draught-screen in three parts has six panels.

Tiles

2000
Acrylics on tiles
30x24cm

I used old tiles from a Paris building. What inspired my work, here, on an early sunday promenade was the beauty of the material. I thought while looking at them at what those tiles saw as they were about 200 years old. What I did, later, was to wash them with warm water. I looked at them and wrote with my brush what I saw on them, using little colour so as to remain with the original material. I like to use materials such as this one but others too.

Labyrinthe

2004
Acrylics on canvas
190x130cm

The life of a city village full of activity.

Lutins

2005
Acrylics on canvas
27x22cm

In 2005 I started to explore painting on "glued canvas" Having this background of the canvas I thought to bring colours as music ...

Iliana

2006
Acrylics on canvas
65x54cm

New series of portraits made from fotographs.

Le Manchot

2003
195x130 cm

Le Manchot
IT IS A PAINTING ON CANVAS WITH ACRYLICS. IT IS CALLED " LE MANCHOT", "HAND-LESS" I IMAGINED MYSELF IF I WERE TO LOSE MY HANDS

Godot'son
