So pleased you could join me here and what can I tell you about myself so you have a good feel of whom I am and an essence of my work. Born in London and spent most of my time in and around London. I left the corporate world in 2000 and started painting as an abstract mixed media artist, an avid collector of vintage jewellery and all things pertaining to the sea, I started designing and making jewellery using the elements of sea glass, pebbles, drift wood and gem stones co joining them with old vintage paste/rhinestone pieces and using wonderful gems of sapphires, peridot’s, aquamarines, amethysts or rubies. So The Vanilla Room Studios were born, I opened my studio/gallery doors to the public and have not looked back since.

My art/design work has developed over the years and I like the ethereal vision of a piece. I still do have strong roots in my original designs. An artisan eye has me designing every piece of my jewellery as wearable art, a whole visual experience as well as designing for all the senses, smell, touch, hearing, taste is a tough one some of my works of art have been described as mouth watering, so I might have just made the grade on all the 5 senses. As I don’t always follow a design norm this has allowed me to make interesting and quirky pieces as well as the more oriental/tradition pieces I am well know for. Anything oriental is pure delight for me.
A nature scavenger at heart all my pieces have been sourced from all over the world days spent at an old English antique shop, beach combing or a Parisian flea market is pure heaven for me.
Most of my designs start life as words (I adore language) or a visual piece of art or nature which has inspired me. I am lucky to have quite a few VIP customers, my customers are very important to me; with out you I would not be here. I always aim to offer excellent designs, excellent service and a stress free buying experience. All my designs are gift boxed wrapped in a Katherine Cooper linen box and all carry my name tag (unless they are very small items).
Now I have been dragged kicking and screaming into this world of wires selling (my own web site will be open soon) and I am enjoying it. |

DOG ROSE

In DOG ROSE I inspired to capture the romantic Edwardian era of rambling wild roses, the colours and romance of a summer cottage garden. |
SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME
2007 mixed media artisan jewellery 9 cm |
|
‘Someone to Watch Over Me’ vintage charm bracelet by Katherine Cooper. My inspiration is the ancient artefacts and symbols of religious faith which prolific in Italy, France and Britain in the old times, a journey back into the past. The white marble coliseum statues, cherub corbels, and crusade crosses.
Colours are stunning ivory whites and creams adorned with gold, a glint of the palest coral pink crystal, a flash of the deepest royal purple and the inky blue black for depth. Opaline pearl and crystal with aura borealis finishes, flashes little lights of purple, emerald and fuchsia for accent. There is a fusion of silver and the palest of gold so you will be able to wear this bracelet perfectly well with your other silver or gold jewellery.
A design of almost but not quite monochrome with a tantalising hint and flash of pink and purple.
