About the Artist

As a woman growing up Catholic in small town Ontario in the fifties and sixties the accepted roles for women were limited.

The creation and decoration of textiles and items used in the home has been the accepted way for women in many cultures to express themselves artistically. Women who painted were expected to stay with appropriate subject matter, such as the still life. Art was a man's profession.
