关于此艺术家

In my belief, Painting initially is a silent media and I work in hope that my paintings can speak for themselves. I put my thoughts, my feelings and emotions on canvas by brushes and paints and I think, if a painting needs a lot of explanations, it should have been a book written, or a song, or lyrics rather than a painting.

All my passion is for portrait painting, but I suggest my work being a performance rather than traditional portraiture. I perform an image that has inspired me through the prism of emotional content and my life experience, manipulating with my own face like an actress and documenting the process as an artist. As a final outcome I paint this transformed reflection of my perception of the image on canvas.

I use my face as the most patient and available at any time model for my works, but I do not paint a portrait of anybody, I work with an image as if it is a ‘litmus-paper’ of the inner, a symbol of emotions or feelings. When I paint somebody else’s portrait, I transform the image anyway, creating an alternative vision of the person.

My paintings might have been associated with images from art history, but I avoid any direct references, I only mark a trace, I outline a hint what this image could be related to. I position the images, I am working with, in a middle of nowhere, without any recognizable signs of any given time or place, or any other particular characteristics.

I identify the monochrome palette in my portraits with anonymity of an image and intentionally restrict myself with colours in my works, manipulating with the monochrome in attempt to avoid any distraction from the inner light of an image. I am fascinated by the influence of light, dark and middle tones on the visual expression of painting. There is an amazing relationship between shape and light from transparency of the light to the dark and solid opaque space around it, which always mesmerizes me.

Red colour, which I often use in my works, has a deep meaning for me. In Russian language, particularly in folk’s fairy tales, often the word ‘red’ equates to the word ‘beautiful’. One of the worldly known Russian writers Fyodor Dostoevsky said ‘Beauty will save the World' and I hope that I produce with my paintings some creative positive energy that by interacting with all the beholders, viewing my works, helps to bring the Beauty to the world to save it.

教育程度与个人自传
During my life I went trough a very long journey towards the point I am now with the opportunity to be an artist and to work in a field that I love most in my life.

I was born in the Far North of Russia, which is closer to Alaska, then to Moscow, and for the first four years of my life I have seen only endless white fields of the polar snow around me. When I was 4 years old, I have moved with my Mum to the one of the most beautiful parts of Russia that was Urals’ Mountains area. I have never seen any flowers, trees or grass before and was almost shocked how colourful the world around can be. I felt at that moment the strongest desire to save all this beauty of the world in my life forever and I think it was the moment when Artist inside me was born.

I have finished Art School in Russia with a First-Class Certificate (Distinction) in Fine Art. Also I studied at Music College as a chorus conductor, so I suppose everything in the world I perceive through a musical harmony, weather this is a harmony of singing voices or music, words or colours. I believe that Russian school of drawing and painting has a very big influence on me as well as music and literature.
