关于此艺术家

Tell us something about where you come from.

I am from Lithuania. We have sea, forest, river and my hut on the bank of it.

List 5 words that describe you.
Camera, harmonica, green jacket, playing football, and driving license.

Who are some people in your life you admire and why?
I admire Paul Paper for his perfect planning. Planning his day, works and life. I admire Kadir Karakadilar for his belief. I admire Vika Naujokaite for spreading and sharing love.

How would you describe your work?
I am a story teller. I just fix things that surround me and show them in my way.

List your 3 favourite things.
Work at famous germans studio, Wong Kar –Way movies, glasses that I don’t have to wear.

What do you do for fun?
Once I bought a new mobile card and flirted with my mum.

What do you consider to be essential in your creative process?
Let the idea become mature. It can take time… Its important to do, not only to think. In fact, there is no time for thinking – you have to do. And one must feel the passion for what he is doing.

What has been the biggest challenge for you so far?
To prove my parents that my work is serious. And still I haven’t succeed...

Is there an idea or subject that you feel obsessed by or curious about at the moment?
I am curious what Kristina thinks about me.

What’s the next thing on the cards for you and your art? Any big plans? Exhibitions, gigs, collaborations, exciting things?
My biggest wish and plan is to broaden famous germans studio – to add vinyl recording studio. Because there is no such in Lithuania. And it’s a huge work need to be done to establish it. But I will do my best. And if anyone would like to help in any way please write me an email to me

教育程度与个人自传

To whom it may concern,

Rokas Pralgauskas belongs to those young artists who started to work independently without any particular help or advise form aside. Up to the moment does not study at any professional photography school. Nevertheless works of R. Pralgauskas distinguish with evident individual expression and contemporary artistic language. Shortly the artist's stile could be described as photographic stories on his own and close friends life that are told in cinematographic mode. Yet the story is often formed by one or two images. It is about the very special diffusive mood of the picture when it comes to the point where we need to describe its essence. R. Pralgauskas does not bother to use all means (computer manipulation, reduction of colors, blur of image etc.) to express the way he sees this particular moment and his relationship to the person he depicts. Despite this visual manipulation, which attracts the attention form the first sight, still every story can be attached to documentary field. The sense of private life documentary is strengthened with the titles that describe exactly the situation: "Can’t remember your name, 2004", "Me in the cousin's bathroom, 2005".

Sincerely yours,

Margarita Matulyte ^historian of photography, curator and researcher of photography at the Lithuanian Art Museum
