| 关于此艺术家 |
To me the idea and process of creating is as important as the image on the canvas.
This freedom has allowed me to continue to paint from the heart.
I hope to create art that makes you think or evokes some emotion. I believe by understanding human relationships through art as a whole, we will understand that we are all art and are similar.
Current Work
My art focuses on the spiritual and human form. I enjoy capturing dramatic human emotion in the figure. Most of my art is therefore expressive and somewhat representational.
A lot of my works depict scenes of life and death. I paint religious and gothic scenes because they combine sweet sorrow and suffering with beauty and joy. For me they represent the ultimate gift of giving. Secrets, mystery, pleasure, devotion and secret are all themes prevalent in my work. My series of works range from religious, to gothic, fetish, written word on canvas, and old world landscapes.
In my paintings you will see a piece of my day, a time in my life or a spiritual moment. My paintings unlock the key to my diary.
My favorite mediums in painting are acrylic, gold leaf, encaustic, and oils. I consider all forms of creativity an open door to my painting.
Madonna Series
All of my Madonna paintings are done in Italy. The cathedrals of Florence are my inspiration.
I use gold leaf and burnt sienna pigments from the town of Sienna.
My photo transfers/paintings are created on location in the studio where I teach in the summer. This studio is an old converted convent on the street of San Gallo. I refer to it as the town of miracles.
Landscapes
"My landscapes range from a wide variety of places as well as mediums. Some painted on canvas, wood, glass or concrete all show my expressionist style and love of paint. Mediums here range from acrylic, oil gesso, to whatever I can find." Her landscapes truly portray the beautiful colors of the world. Even the black and white landscapes seem to have a sense of color. "I love to travel, and everywhere I have been is documented in brushes."
The Fetish and Gothic Series
Georgetta Gancarz is known for her gothic social commentary by her creative dark figures from the streets of New York City and London. Her artistic gift is related to her social environment. The idea of using gothic/punk characters for her canvas remains a constant interesting travel diary. In her art we are reminded of creativity and what comes forth from the self expression of urban decay. She continues to exhibit her "gothic and fetish" works in galleries locally and internationally.
