Helen was born in Kingston, Surrey in 1984. She graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art at The Uniiversity of Chichester in 2007, where she specialised in Photography/Printmaking. |

Helen explores the boundaries between Art and Archaeology and the context of museological display, using a variety of archaeologically unearthed material and remnants of societies discarded detritus. Over the past few years, this has involved a variety of interdisciplinary collaborative projects with a number of art galleries and museums, in an endeavour to analyse and understand the human past. |

| Punishment Bands c1830s.
Part of series of works made as an intervention in response to artefacts housed in the Christ's Hospital School museum.
The original offenders were made to embroider bands of linen with the crime they had committed, which they then had to wear.
It is uncertain as to whether the bands were worn on the head or the arm.
Using contemporary 'Housey' slang, new versions of the punishment bands have been added to the collection. |

| Process: Unearthed – Washed – Selected – Photographed – Etched – Printed.
Tiny fragments of societies discarded detritus are unearthed, from all over the UK and parts of Europe. These fragments are then carefully washed and sorted.
Particularly interesting bits are selected and photographed in an identical manner. The photographic images are then analysed for their etching capabilities. Once these stages have been completed, the long process from artefact to photogravure etching begins
