| About the Artist | |
I work with figurative sculpture, large and small for indoor and out. My current work concentrates on the movement, posture and stretch of the human figure (usually female). My earlier work refers back to my own past as a gymnast and I now concentrate on movement that is going on around me, dancing and expressions of the body. I work by abstracting the figure down into simple shapes and forms which are constructed in the way that a puppet might be put together; placing emphasis on the shape and process of the making. I create simplified expressions of the moving figure, often expressed through a sequence of movement. My colourful decoration draws the eye through the form and gives emphasis to the shape and posture, while portraying excitement and a sense of fun. |
