| As buildings fell on Eastern shores. Wiper blades etched semicircles into dusty windows and Slippery roads and twisted minds glide. The destruction of self-worth in Parking lots full of wetbacks dreaming. At swap meets white chicks rummage for costume jewelry in the morning drizzle. Ympires after nuclear blasts scream, "Out!" Egos search for pity from forgotten lovers while Filipino fruit pickers relax in backseats with white trash. Black, white, red, yellow. brown boys play marbles for keeps. We're all Americans. Wake up and smell the smoke. |

| Out of Place in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. Light from an explosion illuminated my dimly lit room. Together we huddled along the floor in the corner. Voices in a different language I had not heard before articulated stress. There was silence. The door in the adjacent room collapsed from a penetrating force. Vigilantes will define good and evil. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. That they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. That among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Then what the hell are these son's of bitches doing here. |
