My work is the sum of 40+ years of an interesting and varied life, 21+ years of parenthood, 20+ years of navy wife-age, 16+ years of happy marriage, many years of sporadic higher learning, and 2 years of concentrated fine art education. I think that makes me over 100 years old?!?

During my stint at ICC I have been striving to be different, but I have found that sometimes an original idea in my head, is a common idea in many artists’ heads. Pieces I have made, I have found that other contemporary and historic artists, have also come up with. Perhaps artists have similarly wired brains or kindred souls?
But still, I push to be different.

I have also learned that the more an artist talks about an idea, the less likely they seem to actually follow through. It was explained to me, that the act of discussing the concept fulfils the artist’s need to communicate the idea, therefore the piece no longer needs to be made. I am now trying to keep my mouth shut, which is a very challenging task.

I can’t really tell you what my art is all about. Each piece has a different purpose. Some are obvious and some obscure. Some pieces I want you to try to look past the obvious and read more into it. Sometimes there is nothing to ponder, just the pure decadence of enjoyment. It is for you the viewer to decide.
