I was born in Denmark in 1946 and showed an early inclination to the arts. At the age of two I painted my younger sister. I mean literally. I figured she would look good in red so I used a near empty pail of red paint to cover her just before the community health nurse was due to visit. There's bee no turning back ever since.
About the Artist
As mentioned, I have always been interested in the arts and enjoyed drawing and painting as I grew up. I attended the Alberta College of Art and Design after high school and graduated 4 years later with a diploma in Advertising Art. People have always interested me - the way they look and the way they act, think and feel. And I have always loved the human form, so my primary interest has been, and is, in depicting the human form and face in its endless fascinating varieties. Of course I hope that I capture a certain mood or character of my subject but that is up to the viewer to decide. I absolutely detest the pretentiousness of many curators and artists who wax on about the "message" and higher goals of the artist's work. If the work can not speak in some way to the viewing public without being interpreted by a pseudo-intellectual or artsy-fartsy artist it has little value. It seems to me that said artists and curators derive a certain "superiority" in displaying their vast ansd superior knowledge to the "ignorant" masses. It is so condescending and insulting.
