I work in public places mostly photographing ordinary people, sometimes working unobtrusively with a small camera and latterly using small strobes carried by assistants to light passers by. The projects I undertake are often like surveys, my 'Youth' project looked at teenagers and my recent 'Bridge' project surveys the users of a London bridge. I don't know what I am going to get when I start these projects, in that respect the making of them is a revelatory process. I think I will continue to employ different approaches and strategies in my picture making but I expect my fascination with the everyday public space we inhabit will continue to be my subject. |
