| 关于此艺术家 |
As an artist I mainly work in traditional sculpture materials as wood, stone, ceramics and metal, also willingly making experiments and applying new technologies in my works.I like travelling and working in different places of the world, which beside finding new inspirations and possibilities of meeting new interesting people and getting to know new countries and cultures, gives me an opportunity to work in new materials that are not accessible in other places.
My inspiration is mainly a man, especially in the aspect of culture, in relation with other people in the world of globalisation and necessity of living next to the people of totally different backgrounds and conserving his/her traditions and heritage which helps to build a new system of values of tolerance and equality, but gives identity and self-conscience.
In my work I often refer to indigenous cultures and apply elements of symbolism and ornamentation. The idea is not a scientific analysis of the culture, but a usage of the artistic language, transmission of impressions, fascination as well as doubts derived from contacts with a distinct world: religion, culture, tradition and, above all, people living in a totally different system of values. |

The Prayer. Fragment of 'Musli
1999 Variable - the cycle |
|
A series of ceramics and stone sculptures made as the MA Thesis at the Academy of Art. in Krakow, inspired by the trips to Muslim countries made during the years of studies at the Academy. The idea of working over Islam is not a scientific analysis of the culture, but usage of the artistic language, transmission of impressions, fascination as well as doubts derived from contacts with a distinct world: religion, culture, tradition and, above all, people living in a totally different system of values.
The sculptures constitute a formal unity, they are dressed like Muslim women in their traditional clothes. Each of them refers to different fields of life, thus the individual sculptures show Islam as a religion ( the stone forms on ceramics carpets), political and legal systems ( soldiers, stoning to death), and values such as a family and art.
The series was presented in front of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, in Grodzka Street, in summer 1999.
Now, the sculptures are exhibited in Zakopane, in Jagiellonska Street.

La Junta - The Meeting
2003 250 cm |
|
The sculpture "La Junta" (Gathering) was realized during the Mexican government scholarship in 2003. Currently it is a part of pernament display of the colection of the Instituto Veracruzano de la Educación y Cultura (IVEC) in El Jardín de las Esculturas (Sculpture Park) in Xalapa, Veracruz in Mexico
This sculptural composition consists of four pieces of wood varying between 2m to 2.5m high in which there are encrusted some elements of volcanic stone. In the formal aspect of the sculpture, its stylisation and its abstraction, it makes reference to human shapes, but also its ornamentation appear to symbolise the Mexican way of dress. The grouping of these shapes represent an indigenous society, characterised by its traditions and customs and its way of speaking and dressing. The heads, done in stone, have a character and attitude and a gesture which gives each one a different identity. The use of these materials ( stone - wood) is to create differentiation in the formal elements and also to emphasise certain characteristics

Each of them is made in stone of different structure. Some of them are monolithic, others are porous. The series of six works was carried out during the three month stay in Jardín de la Esculturas in Xalapa and refers to the sculpture "La Junta" realized in 2003 which constitutes a part of a permanent collection of the Institute of Education and Culture of Veracruz State (IVEC). |
