I enjoy photographing beautiful flowers. I have combined my two favourite passions of photography and gardening. I am a qualified scientist with an honors degree in Biotechnology...not the usual background for an artist some might say! In the past I have worked as a Research & Development Scientist elucidating Tomato plant-cell defence mechanisms against bacterial and viral attack. I currently work for a Biotechnology company that works on discovering new drugs for the treatment of diseases of the Central Nervous System (e.g. Alzhiemer's disease). I have worked in the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industry for all my professional career (12 years and counting). I particularly like to photograph flowers that most people would consider quite dull when viewed in the garden, but which take on a whole new character under the lens. I'm involved at every stage, from selecting the most healthy seeds, sowing the seeds, growing the plants and then finally photographing them. |
