| About the Artist | |
I am a maker of wheel thrown, functional tableware. My obsession with balance has become the most important aspect of my work. All my pots are fired in a bourry box wood fired kiln, this is my favourite tool. I add soda to the kiln at cone 9 (around 1280 degrees) and for me this is the cherry on the cake. The sodium vapour travels through the kiln decorating and affecting the pots in unpredictable and wonderful ways. Each piece is different and although I have a good idea of what I am going to see when I unbrick the door, there is always a special surprise inside. I like to think each piece is finished when it is loved and used in a kitchen, dining room or on a coffee table. |
