Low budget zombie films have been a source of inspiration in my current studio practice. I fuse together different media’s with in my painting practice such as retro toys, board games, garbage, food, party elements and even hoola hoops which acts as props as if I am directing a film. By creating my own situations or narratives I feel I am in control using the low tech application of paint, removing the complexities of cameras, location, costumes and actors. I intend my paintings to act like contemporary allegories exploring playful scenarios distilled from dark subject matter. |
