I was born, raised, and live in the Boston Massachusetts area. I've been making art my whole life but only the last year have I been actively exhibiting and promoting my artwork. I am married for two years and have a cool dog named Monkey.

| About the Artist |
I constantly challenge myself to maintain the formal qualities of the charcoal and pastel mediums while imbedding my visual vocabulary to create a narrative. I'd describe my process as reactive spontaneous, gestural, thoughtful, and sensual. I never plan out the compositions, textures, and rhythms for each piece, but I always keep them in mind throughout the creative process.
I consider each drawing to be a recording of the improvisational performance of my hands, mind, pastel, and charcoal on the paper. Everything around me (physically, emotionally, and intellectually) is incorporated into the performance of the drawing. It's also important for me to tell stories and send a message to my audience. Unlike “comic strips†or other forms of visual story telling, the abstract narrative is nonlinear and allows the viewer to bring their own experiences into the story and come to their own resolutions.
My most recent body of work focuses on people, places, and events from the virtual reality community of Second Life. Everything is art in there and everything is created by the members. Its easy to find inspiration and I love the process of looking into a digital world, going back into my studio, and making art that get's all over my hands! For some reason, this seems to make great sense to me as an artist.
I am also making customized commissioned artwork for interesting people in the real world who I meet in Second Life. This part of my artmaking has taken me all over the country and soon.. all over the world. |
