Manohar Chiluveru

关于此艺术家

My art revolves around human conflict with his/her surroundings. Strife, discord, disunity provoke debate and argument with human maneuvers with nature. This forms the content of my art, in both my sculptures and paintings. The outcome would be an analogous psychological state of a sensitive human questioning the contemporary environment and its effects. Narrative stage is set where the many facets of human amidst his/her own doings are shown in realistic inflictions with tempered expressionistic undertones.

About the Artist

Manohar was born in Warangal, South India in 1970. He did his Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University from 1991-1996 and then his Masters in print making at the University of Hyderabad from 2001-2002. He has held many solo and group exhibitions in major metropolitan centres in respected galleries throughout India and won several prestigious awards. His works are in private and public collections within India and in private collections abroad.

From a young age Manohar was inspired by the sculptures and statues from the great Kakatiya dynasty that he grew up with in his home town. This influence has stayed with him through out his career. It was when Manohar began art school and learnt about the great masters of art history that a deeper understanding and perception of art began to evolve and change, for it challenged his ideas and notions of art and gave him new a new direction from which to begin.

Concept of the Artist

The basic premise with which he explores his creative possibilities stems from his quest as to how nature, myth, history, and social reality stimulate contemporary visual culture and influence art. The process of seeking a solution to this lies in responding to each of these categories:
Nature: Understanding and appreciating the laws of nature is the only way towards attaining a greater harmony with nature and realizing ones own spiritual self. When this idea is reflected in art it can reach out to people across all cultures.
Myth is a product of human fantasy, fear and faith. Some myths spring forth from the collective unconscious while some are very private and personal. Art offers a platform to externalize these myths and fantasies.
History informs us about various facts of human society from different times. What we learn from history about human society is crucial in understanding contemporary visual culture.
The opposing tendencies of fact and fiction, that is, history and myth and nature and culture is interesting as they are paradoxical and enigmatic, and it is at this point that his visual journey begins in a quest for knowledge, wisdom and spiritual enlightenment in relation to these factors.

Vision and Objective of the artist

To experience and focus on the idea of the physical process and creation of making art rather than the finished result. In other words, regard the creation of the art piece as the art piece itself rather than the finished product.

To bring art to a wider audience vice versa and experiences new interactions, energy, essence, beauty of life and lies within openness of vision and human harmony

Unconditional new interactions with out borderline, is an opportunity of learning, learning is an opportunity of sharing.

To convey through his art the notion of travel physical, mental, and imaginative with the reference of past, present and future and the diversity of cultures, and how this manifests itself through his live painting.

Exhibition details

This is a traveling art event which combines of a variety of different mediums:
The event consists of four sections:
1) A display of drawings
2) A display of paintings
3) A display of sculptures
4) Live painting
5) curatorial programs & short films

Includes:

A catalog for each venue
A portfolio for each venue
The publication of book at the end of the three year international travel show
The book will consist of photographs documenting his entire traveling art and live painting art event.
It will also consist of a journal kept by Manohar over the three years documenting his experiences through out his tour and how his art evolved and changed through travel.

The final show will be exhibited in London with the completion of the live painting canvas.

Live painting feature in this project

The live painting will take place in the galley and the size of the canvas will vary according to the space.

This live painting event will take place continuously from 2006 to 2009 and new meters of canvas will be added and painted to the original canvas at each subsequent gallery venue. Eventually at the end of the venue the canvases will be added together to form one big canvas.
The intention is to see how each country and venue alters the artist Insight and creativity and to show the public the process and spontaneity of how he constructs his pictures.

The live painting event will be filmed and photographed from venue to venue and
screened in succeeding galleries.
