'My earlier work deals with elements of secrecy, detachment and conflict in relation to men, marriage and children. These are expressed in cold colors which stress the loneliness created by the fears and restraints I felt forced upon me by society, my family and even myself.
Later, on the naïve series, I attempted to show a healthier, mature, more wholesome approach to the lesbian relationship. The paintings show a lesbian couple in everyday situations, and express a "new" type of partnership surrounded by all of the different aspects of the world in which it exists. I unified the older perception of paradise with a tattoo shown on the arm of one of the women, biblical quotes together with present 21st century paraphernalia, the old traditions with current everyday life, old architecture from the houses in Jaffa and within them the new, colder décor of simply painted walls and a couch from Ikea, classic duchesses versus a couple bathing in Tel-Aviv, the oriental with the modern and local, a natural landscape with cable and television.
Female nudity is for the most part not sexual but expresses an openness and the realization of partnership. The naive style that I've chosen and the scenes themselves, especially the homey atmosphere, reflect a fantasy and a deep will to realize a sought after uni-sexual ideal partnership. The bringing together of different cultural backgrounds are an attempt to bridge cultural differences and concepts and to bring people together."
