Born: New Orleans, LA
I am a mixed media artist. I have often used humor as an attention getting device in my work, to lead the viewer to the more critical issue at hand. I have many mediums to elicit this humor, such as photographic self-portraiture, sculpture, painting, installation, performance, video, audio and text. An interest in the subtleties of human emotions can be traced throughout my work.

| About the Artist |
Currently I am working on a series of paintings, which focus on notions of comfort and aging. The images for this new series of padded paintings are taken from mail order catalogs geared towards older women such as “Old Pueblo Traders” and “Dr. Leonard’s”. I have become increasingly interested in the products that these catalogs have to offer, especially those, which aid in making life easier and more comfortable.

Introduction to Renella Rose Champagne
1993 to present performance, photography, video, audio |
|
Renella Rose Champagne is a character that I have developed for the past 14 years. I have developed several projects through the guise of “Renella”, a ficticious wedding in 1993 and a lingerie showroom in 1996. Today Renella has taken on the role of struggling singer/songwriter and performs regularly with “Chablis”, her one-man band. |
