I was born in Athens-Greece, in 1962. I come from a family of artists, such as my maternal grandmother and my uncle. I have worked with different media such as charcoal, graphite, inks, oil and soft pastels, acrylics, oils, mixed media and clay.

| About the Artist |
Although I have a MFA degree, I consider myself self- taught. To learn is to experience. For better or worse, I take my own decisions. I am not on somebody else’s path. All the disappointments, frustration, mistakes and discoveries that hopefully come out from them are mine too. My teachers are the works of visual artists that I see around me (in galleries, museums, on the internet, on TV, in the movies, on cd covers, and graffiti).
I do not use models. I rather paint, draw and sculpt what’s inside of me. Creativity is taking a ride through the alien landscape of the subconscious. The silenced mind is the vehicle, the heart is the driver.

2004 Clay, oil and resin on clay 35,56x25,4x10,16 cm |
|
This piece, as well as the five clay heads, was done because I wanted to get familiar with issues concerning skin texture. Any insight was to be used in the creation of the painting "Alien"(193.04 x 124.46 cm) . That is why I think of these six pieces as “3-D drawings”. |

Alien
2007 oil on canvas 193.04 x 124.46 cm |
|
This is the painting that the clay pieces were done for.
The title applies to my inner self who is a stranger, an alien to me. Although I believe in UFO’s, I don’t think they are from far away planets but from the spiritual realm instead. |
