Self-taught photographer, Christophe Agou (France, b. 1969) has a predilection for everyday people, places and objects. He first came to prominence with his compelling photographs made in the New York Subway and published ‘Life Below’ in October 2004. |

Bridging the worlds of documentary and art photography, Agou works in extended series both in color and black and white. His intimate poetic images haunt and intrigue us at the same time and create a layered and intensely rich visual language that trigger thoughts and emotions. In 2006, for his work Facing Silence, Agou was a finalist for the prestigious W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography. |

| The Inside Out Series is a group of color photographs in which people are brought together by chance and captured in a frozen moment as they emerge from below ground. Lost in reflection on a black stage and isolated through a sharp sunlight, these pictures elevate significant facial expressions as well as a multitude of details about the persona that one presents to the world - an attempt to reveal a mysterious and psychological state of everyday life as it is played out in the urban environments. |
