With a vocabulary of images relating to personal and geographic biography, my work holds resonant themes of contemporary reality and personal narrative. Image choice is an important mode of proceeding; the means for exploration in my daily painting and drawing practice. Within my form of realism, different levels of representation commingle and collide. The edge of confusion and clarity resound as a result of the precise yet arbitrary conjoining of image and painting style. In working with sources that relate to personal experience, I seek to gain an understanding by returning to familiar places (personal or media derived) with a different perspective.
I am an MFA Alumni, California College of Arts 2005, Painting/Drawing, with a studio practice in Oakland CA. Also the recipient of a 2007
Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award, and a 2005 Creative Work Fund Grant from the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, my work is featured in many national private collections.
