| 关于此艺术家 |
Natasha Newton was born in Suffolk, England, in 1974. The desire to create art has been with her throughout her life and for the past few years she has worked professionally as an artist, exhibiting and selling her work in a variety of locations.
She has exhibited with many galleries in both Suffolk and London, where her work has been selected for major shows several times, including winning an award at The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Annual Exhibition in 2000. She is currently exhibiting on a permanent basis with Serena Hall Gallery in Southwold, Suffolk, and takes part in themed exhibitions at Reunion Gallery in Felixstowe, Suffolk.
Since launching her own website in 2005 and setting up a page on MySpace in 2006 to promote her art, Natasha has gained a huge following and as her work has become more widely known she now receives regular commissions and sells to collectors all over the world.
Her atmospheric and evocative landscapes and forests are representational but often have strong 'folk art', surreal, or abstract qualities contained within them. She rarely paints real scenes, but creates her landscapes using a combination of elements from photographs she has taken, scenes from her imagination, or remembered landscapes, which gives them an almost fairytale or dreamlike quality at times. Her style of art has often been compared to the work of artists such as Maurice Sendak and Edward Gorey, among others.
As well as working on her landscapes, Natasha also occasionally paints still-life subjects and portraits, and is currently collaborating with the Paris-based American composer Leon Milo on a sound/image project about the city of London, for which she will be producing a series of urban paintings, drawings, and photographs. She has recently been interviewed for the deviantART website, www.neosynthesis.net, and was featured on www.creepmachine.com, an 'alternative art' website. In 2007 Natasha was commissioned to create the artwork for singer-songwriter Amit Erez's self-titled CD album. The album was released in December 2007. |
