I was born in dover, kent, in 1972 on the day of the patron saint of syphilitics. I live, currently. When not drawing, painting or writing you will find me listening to records, playing the guitar badly, whining, trying to earn money or boring people blind talking to them about baseball.

A long time ago I picked up a pen. Haven't put it (or its replacements) down much since. over the years I have used them I have made pictures, designed buildings and written a novel, amongst other things. recently I have been producing illustrative work, including artwork for the cover of the album " dungeness " by hardcore punk band november coming fire. The work on this site is from my last solo exhibition and revolves around the nature of creating a fake existence. Growing from my fascination with comic books, I began to become perplexed by the act of creating a character. When writing, it can be somewhat easier for all concerned because the reader can somewhat fill in the gaps, using comparable life experiences, memories, their own imagination, and so the writer can be a little less afraid. When creating a comic book character though, the creator is totally immersed in the amount of freedom he has. It doesn't even need to be human, or even vaguely recogniseable. and not only that. when the character is made, it exists beyond the person who created it and the act of creation itself. Also, the character is completely explixit. It inhabits both a written and visual world. So I became interested in the relationship between the visual character and the person who made it. And how cogniscent the fake character would be of this. I called mine the aspect kaching. as a joke, believing that I would generate nothing monetarily from the work in the exhibition. Of course kaching had the last laugh as I sold some. |

| I studied architecture for a number of years and got a couple of degrees. I wrote a novel, it took quite a while, and as yet is still unpublished. My last exhibition was a solo exhibition at the Goods Shed, Canterbury called " kaching, your mission is death " in march 2005. Of late I have been doing various pieces of illustration work. you can see some of my work, and read my novel, at www.pikworld.i12.com |
