I am a painter, gardener, sailor, and am owned by a dog. I love nature and the Creator of it. These ingredients are all part of my art, whether visible or not.

| 关于此艺术家 |
I started out with intention of becoming a veterinarian, and somehow wound up as an artist instead. I guess I have always been an artist, from the time I could hold a crayon and make a mark, but in my particular environment there were no role models or school programs to encourage my development. It was much later in life, after my original plan failed, that I got a degree in fine art and took that path. In the past 28 years, my art has evolved from highly detailed sentimentality to hard edge architectural subjects to colorful, ethereal abstractions of flowers and other wonderful subjects from nature and elsewhere. Whew- what a ride! I do enjoy pushing my boundaries. |

Hydrangea 6
2004 Oil Pastel / Inkjet on Paper 22.5 cm x 18.5 cm |
|
One in a series of abstracts of hydrangea flowers |
Mosaic 2
2007 Oil Pastel / Inkjet on Paper 20.5 cm x 25.5 cm |
|
Abstract from a fabric design based on a mosaic. It is mainly about color, but I was also intrigued by the metaphysical significance of the three crosses, since it was around Easter that I finished it. |
Mosaic Abstract 1
2008 Acrylic on Panel 114.3 cm x 81.2 cm |
|
Large, colorful abstract from a previous composition; Part 1 of a series of three paintings which were on display at the Hearst Tower in Charlotte, NC, through June 2008. The fun thing about these paintings: they can be displayed vertically, horizontally, or even flipped, and still look great! The project required that the exhibit be "changed" every two months, which I accomplished with just three paintings, reoriented and rearranged. Quite fun! |
Solstice
2008 Digital Image 19 cm x 23 cm |
|
"Solstice" was created from a photo taken on Dec. 21 - the first time the sun had been visible in days. The image is printed in with a six-color process on archival paper. See my new digital works at my site in the Digital Gallery. |
"Milk Can, May"
2009 Digital Image 23 cm x 19 cm |
|
"Milk Can, May" was the first in a series of works from photos taken through the glass on my front porch. I had just started using a stylus to highlight the dog's marks on the door! |
"Milk Can May #2"
2009 Digital Image 23 cm x 19 cm |
|
Another in the "Milk Can" series: there really IS a milk can out there. Mainly it gives me a title, since it becomes part of the whole instead of the focus. |
