| Brian Louis Schwary |
| |
|
Born 1972, Honolulu, Hawaii. At the age of four, Schwary began exploring his art skills by taking markers and drawing on the walls of his parents’ home. Growing up in Los Angeles, California, he spent his spare time skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and making art. Schwary graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in painting, photography, and sculpture. While at Boulder, he spent his summers working as an assistant film and sound editor. He also studied fine arts for a year at Lorenzo de’Medici in Florence, Italy. After college, Schwary returned to Los Angeles, and decided to pursue an acting career full time along with his art. He graduated from the Joanne Baron / D.W. Brown Studio. Schwary has appeared in multiple films, TV shows, and commercials. The NY art scene pulled Schwary away from LA for a few years where he furthered his career. With the desire for more space to create and paint, Schwary returned to Downtown Los Angeles where he now resides.

| About the Artist |
Brian Louis Schwary paints, sculpts, draws, and creates installations. He works from his dreams and sketch books which are blueprints for large scale paintings that he creates. Schwary's work utilizes geometric patterns and strong colors within his compositions. He focuses on the figurative elements in his paintings, using fine details within a human face or an animal's shape to create meanings within the pieces. His figurative work captures aspects of the human psyche, most often in discomforting moments, such as the maniacal laughter of a clown, or the last breath of a dying man.
Schwary's most recent work can be seen at Violet Restaurant in West Los Angeles, where he redesigned the interior space with an installation mural, paintings, and drawings.
Influences: Marcel Duchamp, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, Julian Schnabel, Jean Michel Basquiat, Charles Ray, Jim Henson, Tom Sachs, Damien Hirst, Matthew Barney, Andy Warhol, Paul McCarthy, Takashi Murakami |
