| Tm Gratkowski |
| |
|
Born: Chicago, Il.
Lives: Los Angeles, CA.
Growing up with a creatively smart family Tm naturally grew to express challenging ideas from a very early age.
 |
| |
| About the Artist |
Tm Gratkowski's art is both concept-driven and process-driven. Beneath a tangle of fragmented vignettes: patterns, colors and textures, one encounters thought-provoking ideas and stories, through a juxtaposition of words and images “ the experience is visceral as well as intellectual. Tm composes layers of paper, much the way a painter builds up their canvas with layers of paint, to develop his imagery. He layers paper until he discovers a story paradigm or a subject matter that promotes a dialogue between the viewer and the art. At first, his work appears to convey complex and contrasting relationships, but upon closer examination, its composition highlights a single idea (and hue) as an end-result |
