| Sylvain Chamberlain |
| |
|
Born in Montreal, Canada, 1957. Well traveled, educated at McGill, Purdue, UCLA, Saddleback, and others. Internationally collected with works in Japan, Spain, France, Canada and the US. A philosopher, and critical thinker of Man, Government, and the Cosmos, Sylvain paints, writes, and teaches.
 |
| |
| About the Artist |
As a critical thinker, Sylvain infuses his works with a passion for discovery and questioning motives. From the simple dynamics of a personal life to the complexities of socio-political durress, his visual and written works all command attention to paradox, denial, delusion, and an array of assumptions made not only in the representational content, but also the very textures and violence of the colors, strokes, and balance of the compositions. |

Sylvain Chamberlain
Born September 3rd 1957 in Montreal Canada.Speak French, Spanish, and English. Moved to Southern California in 1969. Involved in theatre at early age and worked both onstage and backstage, demonstrating high abilities in technical as well as artistic pursuits. Achieved early graduation in high school and several awards in drawing and architectural design competitions. Left home at age 15 to pursue arts career and worked as plumber, chimney sweep, flower truck delivery, hardware store sales, architectural designer/planner, petro-chemical system designer/project manager, radio on-air talent, graphic designer, interior designer, and after school programs educator.My only sister, 4 and a half years my junior required a radical bone marrow transplant from me in 1986, to defeat acute myolitic leukemia. Unfortunately she was not able to recover and died that July. Time does not heal all wounds.I have struggled with illnesses as well. The most debilitating being severe obstructive sleep apnea caused by my jaws being too short. My lower jaw simply falls back and closes my throat to cease breathing for up to a full minute, causing me to convulse all night and sit up in bed at about every 15 to 20 minutes just to breathe. I have been scheduled and approved for surgery, but have no insurance or monies. Surgeons tell me I have a 50/50 chance of living through each night.Media;
Painting, Installation, Video, Film, Spoken Word, Poetry, Architecture, Sculpture, Multimedia, Internet.
