| 关于此艺术家 |
The artist is working in a traditional representational style, eschews identification with a particular school or style. The humour in many paintings is of a satirical but soulful sort.
His works are a celebration of paintings grand traditions –still life, the portrait, history of painting, and allegorical and mythological subjects – articulated in a visual style that has often been described as Neo-Expressionist. But while his frenetic brushwork and metaphysical iconography have much in common with German Expressionism, his paintings never succumbed to the tendency to render the world abstractly.
His introspective paintings describe contemporary experience with a timeless spirituality. Influenced by the works of European Old Masters his paintings often incorporate references to art history through their colors, compositions and subject matter. Through this lineage, the artist draws from his own personal experiences to create beautifully expressive canvases evoking both emotional and physical sensuality he creates a symbiosis between the romantic sublime and the mortal carnality. His paintings are a profound exploration of the human condition, of birth, death and fate.
