| Jeganathan Ramachandram |
| |
|
Born on 17th July 1962,Malaysia.
Mainly uses "symbolic impression" in his arts where images of characters are merged together to give an impression of illusion; It is physically there yet not totally visible at a glance.
This method of painting allows the observer to participate in the discovery of the painting than to just look and walk away without getting involved with the subject.

Divine Embrace (Ramayana)
2005 122 x 122 |
|
The Theme of Divine Embrace:
The scene depicted here is the union of Rama, Seetha and Letchumana and their expression of love towards Hanuman as a family.
The characters:
The human image in the background which is blueish green is of Rama. He is painted bluish green to symbolise his nature, a God like warrior; the perfect balance is symbolised by picking the color of the blue sky and the green in grass.
Seetha who is more obvious next to Rama and Hanuman on the left side of the painting is shown embracing Hanuman, whom she has accepted as her own son.
Hanuman who is painted using white and brownish grey texture symbolises purity (white) and his firmness in devotion resembling earth (brownish grey).
Letchumana is shown in devotion with hands in prayer, in the right-end of the painting. His devotion towards his brother Lord Rama is more of a disciple than a brother.
The three birds in three different curvature is done to show the balance in nature, the state of Harmony, Rhythm and Melody and they also represent wind.
The squirrel is known to have helped Lord Rama in building the bridge and is also included in the painting to show the unity between man, animal and nature.
The sun in the background represents the origin of Rama; Surya Vamsam.

Yama, the messenger of eternal slumber,
Sprinkles the spice of sleep
into the womb of the deserving
taking them into a park of silence......

Kaala Ganesha
2006 Acrylic on Canvas 112 x 98 |
|
This painting named Kaala Ganesha is done using an ancient method of dabbing, a skill artist Jeganathan Ramachandram has mastered over the years.
Like every painting of his, this painting also has a story to tell.
The painting depicts Ganesha in a playful dancing mode while he gracefully moves with the continuous cycle of life.
He is playing the “tappe” a classical Indian drum that represents Kaala (time).
The three birds dancing in rhythmic harmony signifies the relationship between bhavam (movement), ragam (emotions), and talam (beat of life).
The seven fishes potrays the seven swaras (musical notes) that contributes to a perfect balance in life.
The blue moon partially hidden behind his head symbolizes divine spiritual enlightenment and the squares which construct the whole painting simply show the existence of the different phases in life itself.
As he dances away on the chakram (wheel of life), he magnanimously reveals his control over life itself.
The flower placed on the lower left represents the beginning of life (Brahma’s World). The flower on the middle that is held near his heart depicts preservation of life (Vishnu’s World) and the flower held above on the upper left portrays the epitome of life (Shiva’s World). Thus, the fusion of these three worlds equals the Great Trinity.
Further, if you look closely, you would notice that the three flowers are positioned in a triangular shape that clearly demonstrates the perfect unity of the right brain, left brain and the cosmic force.
Kaala Ganesha is adorned with four hundred and fifty stones which include navaratnams (the nine planetary stones), Jaipur stones and finally a diamond beautifully embedded in the third eye of Ganesha.
