| Bennett Hall |

b.1954, San Francisco,
Hall made eclectic photographs of people in San Francisco, around the United State and in Mexico from 1974 to 1997. Hall is known for his hand-tinted black and white as well as darkroom enhanced photography, and also applied this work to commercial projects including album covers for Huey Lewis & the News and tom Petty. In July 1997, when while photographing a street-protest, he was hit 'in the camera' and dragged from the sidewalk by San Francisco Police and later charged with using that $5K camera as a weapon to assault the officer who struck him. The film (4 frames) shot by Hall at the exact time of the assault were destroyed while in SFPD custody. Hall believe that the action by PD was to stop him from photographing a planned assault by PD that occurred 5 minutes and 50 yards from here he was standing. After that event, Bennett Hall stopped shooting street photography.
