| About the Artist |
I started painting when I was 10 years old and haven't stopped making art. Trained as a traditional oil painter, my first love was portrait painting. Today my work is mixed media, egg tempera with occassional forays into video and ephemera. Drawing, landscape, the figure, the picture plane continue to be my foundation. My inspiration comes from dreams, art materials, brush strokes, a color experience, accidents and things seen and almost seen from the corners of my eye, memories. Building up and breaking down, zen, time, change, process, breathing, these are the things of my art.
My specialty is reverse painting on glass, layered with gold and other metal leaf.
I am also a contemporary iconographer and use the iconographer's way in approaching other visual information, wherein all is light and the uncreated is separated from the created.
2005-present: My husband of 22 years died in 2003. I have spent the past few years tearing down and reconstructing my work. I have a huge inventory of work that I am currently reviewing and sorting: keep, finish, sell, throw away.
