I was born in 1952 in Hong Kong and I devote all my time in painting after my retirement of an Art teacher. |

In my first One-man Show、in June 1991、I have selected four landscape features I like to be main themes: clouds、mists、peeks and waterfalls、Mountain peeks hiding and emerging among flowing clouds and mists、high springs、and flying waterfalls composing heavenly songs – these are reality as well as dreams、paintings as well as the mind. So far I myself have had a particular liking for such tranquil and spiritual surroundings. This is perhaps a habit I formed in childhood. In those years、I used to visit the remote streamed bushes to catch insects、listen to their songs and rattling rhythms of trees、embrace the clouds and walk in mist and even sit there meditating all day. The older I grow and the more I experience、I like this plain lifestyle more. The paintings I made do not exist in real life; they are in fact imaginations. This is creation、an outlet for hectic and secular pressures. These paintings are often made by inscribing traces of unconscious effects on the paper、which lead me to the imaginary world of creation. The colours in the paintings、besides based on esthetic rules frequently come from landscaped picture. The decisive factor、however、is the mood at the moment of creating the painting. |

| I graduated from the Department of Art of Grantham College of Education、Bachelor of the Chinese Faculty of the Hong Kong Baptist University、and completed diploma course in modern Chinese ink painting at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies、the Chinese University of Hong Kong. I studied modern Chinese ink painting under Professor Liu Guo Song and Chinese Calligraphy、Seal carving、under Professor Ma Kwok Kuen. I have held 8 solo exhibitions and various joint exhibitions in Hong Kong、China、Taiwan、Canada、Australia、Korea、Japan、Malaysia、Philippines and Russia、and was listed in "The Dictionary of the Achievements of World Chinese Artists" and "The Book of the Famous Artists of The Chinese Contemporary Art". My works were also selected for the First Global Art Exhibition、Asian International Joint Exhibition of Ink Painting、Second International Ink-wash Painting Exhibition in Shenzhen、1992 Innovation and Experimental-Chinese Ink Painting (Taipei) and The Hong Kong Art Biennial 2003. First Taipei International Modern Ink Painting Biennial、2006、Contemporary Hong Kong Ink Painting Exhibition 2006 and 2007 and so on. My awards include the Silver Prize at 「The 7th Beijing International Art Expo 2004」、the Honor Gold Prize at the 「Famous Artists of China & Korea Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings」、the Gold Prize of 「The New Century – 400 Artists of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting」、the Gold Prize of the 「60th Anniversary of the Victory of Anti-Japanese War」 and the Silver Prize at 「The 9th Beijing International Art Expo 2006」. I am entitled to be the 「Outstanding People’s Artist」 both at the Central Chinese Ink Painting and the Calligraphy Academy of Hunan、China. Currently、I am a member of the "International Chinese Ink Painting Association"、the Chairman of the "Hong Kong Modern Chinese Ink Painting Association" and vice-chairman of the Chinese Chen Clan Association of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings. |
