I am a young artist when it comes to showing my art. Since graduating from the University of Illinois, where I studied Oil Painting, I have spent most of my painting time privately working on my subject matter and style. Recently I have begun to seek a more public and interactive connection with other artists. I joined the Chicago Artists’ Coalition, Woman Made Gallery, and the Evanston Artists’ Coalition. I have also been participating in artists’ discussion groups as well as sharing my work with other artists. Consequently, I have been more inspired to excel in my own work and am eager to start to share my paintings with others.

In my art I seek a new interpretation of otherwise common objects through a series of scale and color transformations. I first look to find the essence of my subject, often through photography, by examining the makeup or detail within its construction. I am most inspired by nature and architectural photographs I have taken while traveling. I then reinterpret the subject through painting, drawing, or design to create a new definition. The mediums I use combined with the influence of nature’s power, it’s colors, and carelessness, inspire and empower my ability to see beyond the first impression and to find a richer meaning. In turn, I hope viewers may pause to seek their own unexpected interpretations of my pieces.
