| About the Artist |
My work is a funky, surreal aggregated information overload. Amidst the myriad of details, odd moments and confronting images are subtle elements of mystery, basic values and hope. It’s a decorated mess. I attempt to draw the viewer into a world of Globalization and chaos, then I spike them with a cold reality.
I have recently developed a style of painting that is full of mass subject matter but appears quite ambient from afar. The chequered two dimensional appearance allows me to manipulate the meaning of the picture up close while maintaining a wallpaper quality that isn’t to overbearing. This style is an attempt to phase awkward and beautiful subject matters into one another. The pictures become places where potential conflicts meet and merge.
Influenced by 'Fantastic Art' and steeped in the philosophy of Hieronymus Bosch, whose works 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' or the macabre devils, freaks and monsters form the essence of Richard Batty's 'Urban Architecture' the result of a lengthy research project on Social Geography, exploring the relationship between architecture, space, drugs and sex.
Batty's chaotic, Boschian, compositions are produced in a range of different styles, offering multiple potentialities. Likened to “Where’s Wally” illustrations, many of his paintings are packed like jam jars with imagery, though Wally himself never makes an appearance. Influences are hugely diverse, ranging from an interest in the texturality of Rauschenberg’s Combines and Max Ernst’s Frottage to a passion for figurative work and naïve brush technique reminiscent of Munch’s Expressionism.

"The people of Gaza are depressed, and depressed people turn to myth and fantasy, meaning religion and drugs" Jawdat Khoudary. Travelled across Israel, Palestine and Egypt, May 12th - June 01 2009. took specific photos to make collages of this complex and wonderful part of the world. Pattern drawings and sketches were made (and given away) and used in the the final works, large odd and intriguing prints that are collaged and painted into. The work is a purely decorative coming together of landscapes and images. The goal is simply subtle beautiful and Informative works. |

travel colours June 8, 2009 · Travel has many many different advantages ,also expressing the feeling generated but travel experience is different and travellers have many ways of expressing it as some write some take a photo others make a drawing or painting some even write or compose songs and plays . And as i have been working in a hostel for almost 5 years now i had seen all kinds of art work done . i though it such a loss that some of the extravaganza work done by travellers in a moment of sudden art generated by travel feelings is not shared between travellers and that the maximum reached is actually some travel blogs that people might not have have a direct felling to it!!! And as i run a hostel full of travellers i thought why not use the walls of the hostel to show some of this great work done by travellers to other travellers • Well i am on the beginning of my project travel- Colours which i have been thinking about for almost six month and almost ten days away from realizing the first step of it . and i hope that it will be soon a work to be copied and spreed to other hostels in Egypt and other countries…… |

'Space Tout - He Came From Nowhere' writing by Steve Picard
2009 Oil on canvas 100x75cm |
|
"SPACE TOUT - HE CAME FROM NOWHERE!!"
Intergalactic Goonbeams versus Outer Control City was always going to be a Game to stir the Plutonium that is lodged precariously within the cellular walls of One's Cosmic Distortion Field, and this meeting of these Worldly Wonders was proving to be no exception!
Zorro Zephyr had put City ahead within three Light Years with a perfectly- executed weightless lob, which rose to a level of 805,007,254 metres, before dropping graciously beyond the Goonbeams' gaping Defence and into the bottom corner of the Timewarp Shaft!
But, within the Orbiting of an average-sized Planet, Goonbeams' midfield schemer Wrench Vox Axiom rocketed a Beamer past Fluke Stywalker, from all of 15,736 yards, to neutralise the position!
City won 33-2!
