“Honeymoon at Icon of Love"

| The Taj Mahal is the symbol of love and is universally accepted as the monument of love. In "Honeymoon" a couple kissing each other while covering their face with the "Taj" in there back drop symbolizes the conservativeness of our society. An open air kiss is not acceptable in the Indian society, which showcase our old fashioned or red- neck cultured of India. Why is this newly married couple covering their faces while kissing each other? Are they shamed to express love or is the society becoming a barrier for their lovely feelings? Their backdrop symbolizes the major conservativeness of the society. Cover cloth and the floating flowers depict the acne's of Indian sexuality which is sensual then sexual. |

| Satadru Sovan Banduri is a well-known painter and video artist from India. He started his career like most other artists—by working toward his undergraduate and graduate degrees(BFA & MFA) in fine arts from art school. He was at Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan which is one of the best international art schools in India. Satadru is an artist working with digital Art and new media, interactive technologies, Video Art, educator and Painting. He has been involved professionally in the field of computer technology since the early 2000's. Satadru was awarded a Fulbright fellowship for 05-06. He is a research scholar at DANM University of California ,Santa Cruz from January–July 2007 At that time, he did several new media Arts projects in US and display in US. Psycho Geography of the Amusement Park project of Interactive Internet-based Artwork, exhibited at The Museum of Art & History. Santa Cruz California. Cross Cultural Celebration a project of Digital Video Installation and Net-based Art showcase at Faculty Gallery, Porter College, UCSC. Locating the cross-cultural dialogue between two countries, he became interested in the richness of strong cultural and social distinctions, where personal and social spaces combine. Digital arts Cross Cultural sensuality other project for New media MFA Exhibition at Digital media Factory ,Santa Cruz. Cross Cultural emerges from Satadru’s continuing work with developing dialogs around gender and sensuality, creating visual statements of India’s and the United States’ cultural differences in ethnic and gender issues. |
