fake landscape-01
February-March 2008 object / photography |
|
In Fake Landscape I was focusing on representing the idea of landscape by using different materials and elements.
I was reflecting on the pace of life in a big city, where all your actions are scheduled, and regular leisure does not necessarily include walking in a forest or a park. Though, from my childhood I recall an image of natural landscape, having grown up in a small city.
My intention was to replace the real landscape from my memories with the images of objects I created inside my apartment using basic elements of landscape.

Portable landscape-01
May 2008 object
Paper bag Dried grass Research report with a city map |
|
Portable Landscape is about the ability to adapt to new surroundings, when travelling from one place to another. When settling down in a new city, what one usually can see around is skyline. In a park there typically would be trees and lakes, and above is sky.
The idea of landscape is so common, that the portable kit contents can be easily used to create an imitation.

Landscape deconstruction-01
November 2008 photography, collage
10x15 cm photo prints Paper Glue stick Adobe Photoshop |
|
In this series I continue my research on landscapes by splitting them into pieces and choosing some parts to form a new landscape.
I am interested in the process of splitting images in small pieces to the degree where perception of the whole image becomes difficult. So, by choosing combinations of spaces and sizes of pieces it is still possible to represent the idea of a landscape.
