About the Artist

I have always been passionate and curious about the natural world and drawing gives me the opportunity to capture this spontaneously and precisely. I prefer pen and ink due to the discipline it instils, its permanence, spontaneity and its ability to produce fine lines. Each line is influenced by the one next to it and the entire drawing draws itself from the lines. I have tried to use line as a canvas so that the different shapes could articulate themselves through it. The subjects are from life classes and my garden.

I think that everything that I see is the same bar the different shapes, textures and colours and my own interpretation based on experience. I have therefore tried to keep the least amount of distinguishing features to be able to recognise the subjects depicted.

The drawings titles all start with the mmwnz prefix with a suffix that indicate the subject matter, all have sequence numbers. The sequence number indicates the order of each drawing, only the first drawing in each subject matter has a description, the rest of the drawings rely on that first one, its description and their own presence to guide the viewer. This means that each of the drawings on a subject matter cannot exist on its own and cannot be seen on its own because the mere fact of having a number makes me associate it with another one. Just as each line on the drawing relies on another, each drawing relies on the first one to articulate itself using the minimum means.

All present and future work will always be in progress as far as the eye can see. I hope you enjoy.

This is quite literally ''fragile'' as depicted by the broken lines which have been interwoven briefly at this moment in time in this fashion. Each line can only be undestood by visually associating with several adjacent pairs, otherwise it has no meaning in this context and is therefore in progress.

This work is and will always be in progress in that it does not define any shapes or forms that are recognisable to me within the context of other works that follow it. Other works that follow define shapes or forms that are recognisable to me and seem complete. The lines in this work are not restricted and can go into any directions as there are no borders, in fact there could have been enough lines to fill the paper, but in this instance, only the imagination can fill it. The other works that follow this one are just a completion of this one.
