I feel there has always been a need to redefine the artistic collaboration in architecture and vice-versa, in bridging the highly technical aspect prevalent in architectural works and the seemingly abstract representation of form more commonly associated to art.

| About the Artist |
Multhalib obtained the Bachelors Degree in Design Studies from the University of Adelaide in Australia in 1998, followed by the Bachelor of Architecture from MARA University of Technology in 2000. Since then, he has been granted with numerous awards and residencies with what started off as a break from his architectural career. Besides Malaysia, he has also been invited to international exhibitions in Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, and Spain among others. He was selected for the 2001 Rimbun Dahan Residency and the Australian High Commission Residency Award 2004 has selected him as Resident Artist at the Gunnery Studios, Sydney. In 2002 he was honoured with the Second Prize Award of Excellence at the 6th Oita Asian Sculpture Open Competition in Japan. The National Art Gallery Kuala Lumpur also presented him with the Jurors Award at the Young Contemporaries Awards Exhibition, and an Honorable Mention at the Philip Morris Malaysian Art Awards in 2003. He recently received the Merit Award for a major work to be built in the Beijing Olympic Park City Sculpture Project 2008 in Beijing, China. Multhalib is currently doing installation and sculptural work in an architectural manner. |
