| Alejandro Gutierrez |
| |
|
Alejandro began his art studies at the David Manzur Academy in Santa Fé de Bogotá, Colombia in 1972. For the last 24 years the artist has studied and worked in the Western New York area. He graduated from the State University of New York College at Fredonia (where he produced the Internationally syndicated radio program Playing It By Ear), and the SUNY Buffalo Law School. He is President of the Board of the Western New York Artists Group.
Alejandro has spent his life exploring the seemingly coincidental occurrences that lock a chain of events together into a new something. He has pursued his calling since he was six years old, when he would scrounge around the basement garage of his apartment building for paints, oils and wood. There began the magical alchemy. He would burn, scrape, mix and mangle whatever he could get his hands on ... whether visual, sonic or textural.

| About the Artist |
Alejandro is deep in production of his new record in Spanish and English. Click on “Pablo’s Problem” to hear previews of this currently unsigned project. His cinematic piece “Picture Show” is on broadjam’s top ten-spoken word! You can still vote here. You can hear short samples of the 1995 CD “Pet Anxieties” by Gazeuse! and six live recordings (featuring Mike Klein on the vibraphone).
Currently, his small abstracts on canvas, “Crucible” and “Coral” are on display at Art Dialogue Gallery in Buffalo, New York. Alejandro’s painting “Forest for the Trees” was featured in the Buffalo News’ Gusto magazine. His painting “Brilliant Blue Incident” was also featured in NY Arts Magazine, and he has two works on paper in the Area Artists collection at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. You can view and purchase his work, and that of other emerging and established artists, at the saatchi gallery, the-artists.org, and artist-listing.com, or directly from the artist.
His paintings have been shown at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Art Dialogue Gallery, Oxford Gallery, Buffalo Arts Studio, Big Orbit Gallery, Adams Art Gallery, Carnegie Art Center and the Kenan Center. |
