"I usually use images from photographs, newspapers or magazines. If the lifetime of an image is the time it's being looked at, then the media images where given a very short life. We look at them very fast, sometimes not at all, and the next moment we have million new ones already. By using these images in an art piece, I take them out of their context and give them more presence, more importance and an “eternity life”. But, in the painting I emphasize the fragility of the original images. It shows how temporary and vanishing they tend to be and how all the meanings we put on an image exist only in our eyes and in our recollection. What we actually see is matter that can fade away any minute. I examine the ways we are used to look at art with the traditional tools of art (paint, brushes etc') and sometimes twist them a little. The background is stronger then the subject and sometimes takes over it, what looks three dimensional (the face) is actually flat and what we are used to think of as flat (the background color) usually has thickness, and so on. When I paint a “head” – a word full of meanings and associations, a word that symbolize importance - I expose the unimportance and the temporariness of these newspapers-taken heads. The viewer stands in front of the simple fact that this is not a head, this is only an image of a head.
In the landscape paintings, I examine the passing one-time moment experienced by looking out of a moving car window. Again, I try to capture something that can not be captured and give it some kind of eternity by putting it on canvas".
