Annette Rolston

About the Artist

I concentrate mainly on producing large intricate works on paper. The way in which I work is based on intuition and drawing. Over my entire art career I have sketched and drawn profusely, working spontaneously to allow imagery to emerge with little conscious interference. The images are of intricate patterns and archetypal symbols relating to themes such as fertility and growth in nature and the universal link with man and woman.

The drawings are complex, delicate and sensitive. They touch on an 'otherness' I feel in life, a sense of the beyond, of spirit in man and nature.
