I was born in Australia in 1965. |

I had been taking photographs of objects, then the shadows and reflections they cast became more important. It was like another world came into existence when I focussed on the space around the object rather than ‘it’, and then how the object affected that space rather than the space providing a reference point for the object. When I began, I’d been reading a lot about consciousness and the images seemed to parallel the experience of going beyond a dialectical paradigm into some kind of unknown, and that of transferring attention from the singular and separate to a broader context. In the unfolding, depths & structures emerged beneath scratches & textures, or floated on top. |
