| Charlesworth Lewandowski And Mann |

| 关于此艺术家 |
Charlesworth, Lewandowski & Mann formed in 2005. The group originally met, following their study at Goldsmiths College, to share ideas and to develop a piece of work around a set of shared subject matters from individual art practices. In October 2005 Charlesworth, Lewandowski & Mann displayed the culmination of this process in a warehouse in Greenwich. The work entitled Partially Shed (May 4 Kent 70) was a full scale replica of Robert Smithson’s Partially Buried Wood Shed constructing only the portions of the shed visible above Smithson’s dirt. Partially Shed rests uneasily and off kilter with political slogans daubed on it, Partially Shed creates both a mythological and political discourse which calls into question/ memory the historical narratives of the protest movement in 1970's America.
Charlesworth, Lewandowski & Mann continue to develop a body of work that, through a mixed discipline process, seeks to provide an ongoing commentary upon contemporary models of heroism whilst investigating the social, political and historical backdrops that such figures dwell in. From figures of art historical importance such as Robert Smithson to more potent and commonly held figures such as Earnest Shackleton and Scott of the Antarctic, Charlesworth, Lewandowski and Mann posit themselves within historical frameworks at times through elaborate implication and in others heavy handed reference. Their no nonsense aesthetic, often using objects more common to the building site, communicates the expanding narratives through a series of direct and high visibility reference points; ratchets, strapping, tarpaulin, fans (home and industrial) white goods and scaffolding are all common elements in the groups visual vocabulary.
