| Chris Klein |
| |
|
Klein was born in the early fifties near Watford and has worked as a graphic designer for most of his life in order to maintain his artistic independence.
 |
| |
| About the Artist |
Klein's aim has always been to produce art which transcends, reason, explanation, or the need for justification. With this in mind, he set out to produce work that wouldn't require any knowledge of the culture or history of society or art and could be equally accessible to everyone. Initially he used mathematics, geometry, logic and systems as a way of producing images free of any personal baggage. Seeking to explore the balance between logic and emotions was the starting point for the Fluid Geometry series. Since then he's followed the inherent projective possibilities as his later work has developed in theme specific directions. Overcurrent is a series of Digital Urban Landscapes that reflect a view of society as seen from the banks of the Thames and is a development on publicity material he was commissioned to design for a contemporary electronic riverside perfomance. It alludes to the opinions and emotions not visible at the surface, an inverted undertow which controls and oversees our comprehension of everyday life. As Overcurrent looks at the big picture of society, images from The Electric Garden parallel the overwhelming intensity of the natural world in microcosm.
