Chris Swain

About the Artist

Drawing inspiration from the rich fabric of modern urban living, infusing it with the energy of jubliation and despair and informed by an appreciation of colour, Chris Swain would count Pollock, Banksy, Ofili, Basquiat, Kandinsky, Malcolm Morley, Max Beckman and the Chapman Brothers as influential to him. Music is also an inspiration to the creation of his paintings, as are the enthogenic explorations and shamanic rituals he undertakes. Chris Swain's varied themes and styles are an attempt to thwart categorization in order to resist expectation.
