Danielle Ward

About the Artist

As a student in my native Holland I always found myself drawing and painting and dreaming of one day becoming an artist. When my grandfather hand made an eazel for me, there was no going back. After completing my schooling in rural Holland I attended the "Grafische school" in Amsterdam before securing a role for an international advertising agency based in Amsterdam. For a total change I then moved to Spain to work for a property development company. My time of living in this environment still inspires my work today.

Shoreline

2006
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

I feel the tranquility of this picture really comes through. The inspiration for this was a boating day out on a lake. The late afternoon sun low in the sky was creating some dramatic reflections on the water.

Wonkas place

2006
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

I called this picture Wonka's Place because it reminds me so much of the chocolate river in the original film. The fact that I have chocolate on my mind for most of the day has absolutely nothing to do with it. Remember brown is the new black.

Terracotta

2006
Acrylic on box canvas
100 x 100

Inspired by my time living in Spain, this Terracotta picture brings warmth to any room and can fill the largest space.

Wavepark

2007
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

Vibrant colour, this wave has some real power which exudes from the canvas.

Giraffe

2005
Acrylic on box canvas
100 x 75

Safari in the home!! Maybe not, but this large simplistic view of the Giraffe really catches the eye and is a real talking point.

Sunset

2005
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

As with all sunsets, there can only be one inspiration, and this one is no different. Try and imagine the warm sun going down as you look at it.

Copper Sky

2005
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

A surreal skyscape that really adds warmth to a room. The deep tones of this picture really do have an atmosphere all of there own.

Buddha

2007
Acrylic on box canvas
75 x 100

Spiritual or religious I am not, however this guy intrigues me. Despite my lack of religious conviction this picture still gives an aura of calm.
