| About the Artist |
I found my camera on the ground 3 years ago in Harlem, at a sidewalk spot known as "junkie's bazaar" - bought it for $5. (I've bought a lot of things from those guys over the years. I thank them.) What moves me is to attempt a dialogue with this camera and its nominal past. The images are informed by that dialogue. Closely related to that is another subject I am exploring: the nature of technological advancement. It is definitely possible to exhaust a given technology; however, a good portion of our advancement leaves behind intrinsic and undiscovered utility for the sake of what is simply new. Infinity resides within the supposedly obsolete parameters of some of our old technologies. Nevertheless, it's not about being a romantic or a luddite: I don't worship the old or the new. I am fascinated, though, about searching for images squarely within the parameters of this camera. |

I wondered if one crosswalk figure could actually help another across the street. I would that we walk like that, in pure help-mode, friend-mode, brother-mode...and we will, if not in this dispensation. (double exposure, no digital impositions) |
